A Very Dreary Day

Friday was a very dreary day, in more ways than one. My monitor broke down... just like that. I wasn't able to get on my computer til Saturday afternoon, after I got a new (bigger!) monitor installed. So I consoled myself by watching Cranford (couldn't stop laughing! :D ) and of course, by taking photos.

Oh yes, and I also spent some time reading Lady of Milkweed Manor, which I finished yesterday. Great book by the way! :)

Random Note: I got a haircut today! My hair length is pretty much the same, just a tiny bit shorter, but I got side bangs! Love them! :)

The Hunger Games: Official Movie Trailer

I'm so excited I could scream! The Hunger Games official movie trailer came out a couple of days ago and it's AMAZING!!! You have to watch it! I've already watched it about 5 times! Can't wait til March 23, 2012!!! Eep!

Snow!

I woke up this morning, and looked out the window to find our neighbor's roof, the deck, the lawn chairs and table, the grass, and pretty much everything covered in a dusting of powdery, sugary white... snow! :) Can you guess what I did? Grabbed my camera and ran out the door of course! While I was snapping away, I managed to capture these...

I am in love with the background in the above photo! Reminds me of Christmas cards...

...and then the most unfortunate thing happened. My camera battery died. It took about three times of moving the on/off switch back and forth to convince me that it was indeed, dead. I so hate when this happens to me! Mainly because it dies when I most need it. My camera battery does not like me. I keep telling myself I need to buy myself another one but I never really get around to doing it. Perhaps I'll just put it on my Christmas wishlist...
Anyways, an hour later, with my battery only half charged, I headed out again. The snow was melting so rapidly, it would've probably been all gone if I'd waited for it to fully charge. I did manage to capture the beauty of that last bit of freshly fallen snow though. Here's some of the photos I took...

By the way, anyone know of any photo challenges which I can enter some of the above photos in? I already entered mary ann's, but I can't seem to find any other active ones. Links are appreciated! :)

A Tribute to Fall

It snowed today... for the very first time! Not a real snowfall, just a few flakes, but it made me realize just how soon we'll all be saying goodbye to fall. The leaves are almost all gone, and you can distinctly smell winter in the air. It makes me happy though, in a few weeks time, millions of snowflakes will be lying around, just waiting to be photographed. And then of course, there's Christmas, a time when gifts are exchanged and we take time remembering the greatest Gift of all. December will then eventually give way to January, my birth month. :) So you see, I have tons of things to be excited about! But I wanted to take the time to give fall a little tribute, let it know just how much I'll miss its colour. As the saying goes, 'a picture is worth a thousand words', so I'll let my photos do the rest of the talking for me. :)

This photo reminds me of pine cones and snowball fights, must be the white 'snowy' background.

The colours were all so pretty! And I love the touch the little unfocused green leaf gives to the photo!

Do you think you'll miss fall? I know I will. But still, I can't wait for December to arrive! :)
